Chantal van den Heuvel studied journalism at Brussels University. She has written many comic book scenarios under the pseudonym of Chantal Vanek. One of them "La nuit de la Chandeleur" (Glénat publishing) received the Lion Award from the "Centre de la bande dessinée" of Belgium in 1997. She has also written scenarios for Belgian television as well as for "short films". She also collaborated on the film "Organik" that received the Jury Prize at the "Festival du film fantastique" of Gerardmer (France) in 2005.
