
Frank Andriat was born in Brussels (Belgium) in 1958. He started writing at the age of 14‚ and in 1973 he launched the literary journal "Cyclope". Andriat finished his studies in Roman philology at the University of Brussels‚ and in 1980 became a French teacher. In his books‚ Frank Andriat emphasizes the importance of openness and tolerance: in "Journal de Jamila" for instance‚ he expresses his opposition to racism. In "La remplaçante" he approaches the importance of dialogue between teachers and students‚ and in "Rue Josaphat" he describes the simple daily life in a popular street. Many of his young adult novels have become best–sellers in schools‚ and several have won awards and were translated into Dutch. He is published by Mijade‚ Grasset–Jeunesse‚ and Bernard Gilson.
