In the Paris of 1840‚ a gang of street kids survives by robbing and thieving. Their territory is Saint–Médard neighbourhood‚ where the prison Sainte–Pélagie casts a gloomy shadow. A young boy from Lyon‚ seemingly from a good family‚ wants to join the group. The gang decides to test the newcomer before accepting him. But their new friend reveals his secret: his father‚ a republican‚ is held up in Sainte–Pélagie. To try to help him escape‚ the group will use the connections that are sometimes established between crooks and some powerful figures in the social labyrinth of the big city. Age: 10 and up
