Peter and the Birds
by Anne Holl, Brigitte Minne
Peter the scarecrow finds a young sparrow fallen out of its nest. He protects it and feeds it and even teaches it how to fly. Seeing this‚ the other birds get up the nerve to approach Peter and he becomes their favourite scarecrow. His friends take some of his straw to build their nests. After the rain they take a bath in the hollow of his hat. And they eat the seeds from the field Peter is supposed to watch. When the farmer finds out what is going on‚ he gets mad and throws Peter in the creek. But the birds come to his rescue.
