The story begins with an anonymous‚ orange letter that a man sends to a married woman who has 2 children. In this letter the man declares his since long suppressed desire to praise her beauty that he has been admiring from a distance. Other anonymous letters filled with praise follow. Her daily life is disturbed and troubled. As days pass he reveals his first name and gives her a post box address so that she can answer. She in turn introduces herself; her name is Julie and her children are Romane and Pierre. This beautiful story is told with delicacy and affection.
