Fabrice lives with her grandmother since her parents decided to separate. The bad guys in the village influence the boy and destabilize him. Convinced that his parents have abandoned him‚ he becomes very solitary and aggressive‚ capable of doing the meanest things. When Fabrice discovers an owl nailed to a barn door as a sign of misfortune‚ he secretly takes it to treat it and help it survive. While trying to find out who is nailing dead animals to doors‚ Fabrice takes risks in order to help the bird‚ until it makes him seriously ill. Age: 10 and up
